Venture Capital

For a new or growing business, a venture capital loan serves the same purpose as a venture capital investment. Both are used to secure start-up or growth capital for a business. But it is very important for an entrepreneur to know the difference between the two. With a venture capital investment, the risk lies with the venture capital firm.

Venture capital firms invest their money in the hope that the company will turn a large profit, and if it does not, their investment is lost. However, venture capital loans must be repaid by the entrepreneur, with interest, regardless of whether the company has been successful or not. Due to the risky nature of entrepreneurialism, venture capital loans have higher interest rates than bank loans.

Many venture capital loans will require an equity injection of 15 to 20 percent or more, as well as loan approval by the United States Small Business Administration. Not all firms that offer venture capital investments will also provide venture capital loans, but many will. And likewise, there are some loan institutions that will provide venture capital loans, but will not make venture capital investments. An entrepreneur must be aware of which companies provide which services and whether those services are what the company is looking for or not.

At iBank.com, a business can apply for venture capital investments or venture capital loans online. By registering with iBank.com, a business can compare interest rates, negotiate with lenders, and obtain venture capital funds more quickly and easily, so that they can get down to business as soon as possible.
