 Angel Venture Capital

Angel venture capital is a form of private venture capital that comes from a single individual or a small network of investors, rather than a large firm. And unlike a regular venture capital firm, which will provide funding for growing businesses for expansion--as well as to help save failing businesses--angel investors will usually only provide start-up capital for new businesses.

An angel network may consist of only a handful of investors, 10 or fewer, or it may have two or three hundred or more investors, all pooling their funds together. Angel investors are wealthy individuals and provide the money for their investments out of their own pockets. The amount invested will usually be less than with a standard venture capital company, though: a few hundred thousand dollars to a million or two, at most.

Since angel investors provide venture capital for new, unproven businesses, the investment is a very risky one. A substantial number of new companies fail, and a large percentage of angel investments are lost completely. Therefore a high return on the investment is necessary, usually between 20 and 30 percent. Angel investors are very careful about the companies in which they invest. Companies are first examined for growth potential, and angels usually will not invest unless there is a potential for 1,000 percent growth within five years.

Finding angel venture capital is easy with iBank.com. There are a multitude of angel investors listed with ibank.com that registered users can connect with. These users can then negotiate with investors and figure out personalized investment packages together that benefits both parties and helps gets businesses the funds they need.
